Atsuki Fujimoto

Atsuki has developed a unique technique that involves tearing, layering, and reassembling canvas to express the ephemeral beauty and strength of nature. Inspired by natural motifs such as flowers and plants, his works go beyond conventional still-life painting, capturing the atmosphere and fleeting impressions of light, wind, and seasonal change. His practice reflects the influence of Western material art while embodying a quiet, poetic sensibility often associated with Japanese aesthetics. By cutting and manipulating canvas and fabric, he gives form to the intangible — expressing fragility, vitality, and the passage of time through a tactile, immersive visual language. In doing so, Fujimoto creates works that are at once intimate and expansive, offering viewers both solace and a renewed sense of connection with nature.

Atsuki Fujimoto was born in Mie, Japan in 1997 and is currently based in Kyoto. In 2021, he received his M.F.A. in Fine and Applied Arts Field, Oil Painting from Kyoto University of the Arts.
