Yuto Yonemura

Born in 1996 in Osaka, he graduated from Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2019 with a degree in Integrated Arts and Crafts.

Since his childhood, his interest in the great heroes of the Showa period, such as special effects heroes, robots, and Greek mythological gods, has led him to create sculptures that interpret the inherent awe, fear, and longing for their overwhelming presence.

The "Agalman" (agalma is a coined word meaning "statue" in Greek and man in English), which is made of various materials such as clay, stone, and FRP, is a superhuman statue of a superhero. These works are presented in a heroic pose, and the artist explores the reality of sculpture through the materials and the process of making the sculptures.

Major exhibitions are "BAROM (or several long stories)" (The Triangle, Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art, Kyoto, 2023), solo exhibition "BARORORM SQUAD: I Can Stand Alone! (NEUTRAL , Kyoto, 2022), "GAAA (WIII)" (COHJU, Kyoto, 2022), "Art Award Marunouchi 2019" (Shin-Marunouchi Building, Tokyo, 2019), outdoor sculpture "AGARUMANS (Best Friend)" "ART SCRAMBLE" (Grand Front Osaka, Osaka, 2021).
